Ruma did her schooling from “Lovely Public School”, Delhi till 10th standard and then had to drop school due to financial difficulties. She then completed her studies till 12th standard through correspondence as she doesn’t wanted to increase her single mother’s burden.

She then pursued her bachelor’s degree in “B.A. Programming” from “Delhi University”. She also attended the “National School of Drama” (Teenagers Group).

During her childhood she dreamed of becoming a doctor but during her teens she realized she is not made for such rigorous studies, so dropped the plan. Plus her mother always wished to see her on screen and had continuously encouraged to follow the passion.

At six years of age, Ruma did her first show in “Shree Ram Centre Auditorium” Delhi, as a lead. Her first role on TV as a child artist came for a Star Gold episodic series. She then acted in the Doordarshan’s early 2000’s popular show “Jasoos Vijay” produced by BBC World.

She also acted in a Doordarshan show opposite Rajat Tokas. Then she appeared in yet another Doordarshan Show titled “Zara si Baat”. She did a no. of other shows for DD1, alongside her studies.

In 2009 she appears in a Movie titled “Dimag Ki Dahi”. After completing her 12th, she shifted base to Mumbai to concentrate on her acting career.

From 2013 to 2015, Ruma has done episodic roles in popular TV series like Zee Tv’s channels “Fear Files: Darr Ki Sacchi Tasvirein”, Life OK’s “Savdhan India” and “Shapath” and also Color’s Tv’s show “Code Red”.

She appeared in cameo but important roles in Serials like “Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan”, “Siya Ke Ram”, “Kaala Teeka” and “Tashan-E-Ishq”.

She gained an enormous amount of popularity amongst the youth for her role of”Riddhima” on MTV’s popular show “Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan”.

In 2016, Ruma played the role of “Rajkumari Saloni”, actor “Kiku Sharda” (Akbar’s) neice on BIGTV’s comical show “ Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal”.

She also played the role of “Payal” on BIGMAGIC channel’s show “Kunwara Hai Par Hamara Hai” and the role of “Rajkumari Prabha” on yet another BIGMAGIC channel’s show “Shakti Peeth Ke Bhairav”.

Ruma has also done three short films as a female lead titled “The Tale of the Boy and Two Nights”, “4 Shades of Attraction” and “100% Pleasure”.

Currently Ruma is seen on the YouTube channel RVCJ (Rajnikant Vs CID Jokes). She is part of skit titled “Annoying Friend”, “Types Of Photographers”, and “When You Have HOT Girlfriend”, on the channel.

 

In 2019, ruma is seen as a lead on ULLU, the Streaming Platform’s film “GUARDIAN”.
