The beautiful and talented Indian model/actress Nushrat Bharucha is ruling the hearts of billions with her amazing acting skills and cute smile. She is now the new female star amongst the youngsters and is a surety for success.
1) personal life:
Nushrat was born on 17th may 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her zodiac sign is Taurus. As Taurus have Venus as their ruling planet, she was bound to revel in the pleasures of life. She loves nature and has a genuine attachment to beauty. Currently she is 33 y/o (as on May 2018).
Nushrat was born in the family of Tanveer bohra and Tasneem bohra. She belongs to the Dawoodi Bohra community, an Ismaili Shia Muslim sub sect.
Her father was in the business of heat-resistant ceramic coating in Juhu, Mumbai. Her mother Tasneem is a homemaker who grew up in the Bohra neighbourhood of Bhendi Bazar. Later she moved to Juhu after marrying Tanveer.
She considered she had been brought up with both orthodox and liberal thoughts by her family. While her career decision is great leap in terms of believes of the community but she stills follow the orthodox customs whenever and wherever she feels necessary so that not to get detached from her roots.
Nushrat always lived in a joint family while growing up and was really close to her aunt (her father’s sister). Her aunt was a journalist in a newspaper earlier but later she joined one of India’s leading fashion magazines.
From the beginning she was a part of her aunt’s journey. She always admired and was spell bounded by her world and it has given her an entirely new perspective on life. And hence it wasn’t a surprise that she dreamed to pursue a field crime reporting career in journalism.
Nushrat had attended the Lilavati podar high school in Mumbai. Both her parents are great enthusiast in theatre. Her mother has always encouraged her to take up theatre in school. Her dad was also associated with the theatre and has done a lot of it at Prithvi theatre in Juhu Church Road, Mumbai.
She has done rehearsals and workshops for theatre and is determined to do it once she feels fully ready for the challenge. For her graduation she attended the Jai hind college, in churchgate Mumbai.
In college she has opted for a bachelor’s degree in mass media (BMM), with journalism and advertising as her subjects of specialisation.
She was involved with the backstage production of college plays and right from her first year, she had organised and managed many college fests and events and had been a great show-runner. In fact because of her ability to do multitasking she was titled ‘Busy Bee’ by her colleagues. She always believed that she will eventually become a producer one day.
Today, when on set, she involves herself in backseat production designer and assistant director roles apart from being an actress. But currently due to her hectic schedule she was not being able to focus on that path.
For a contest in her college she was even successful to arrange a leading face wash brand to be their sponsor. They auditioned different contestant for five days and to her surprise on the day of the finale, she was called on stage and awarded as their ‘fresh face’.
She took a part-time job at Brunswick Bowling during her college and the salary for that was 6200 INR/month. And she gave it all to her father.
After her college win she did few commercials just for fun without being serious about choosing acting as a career. Her first ad was as a background support artist with Bollywood actress Asin

Nushrat feels that gym exercises gets boring after a point of time and if a chance presents she rather be doing yoga on a calm beach than indoor gym. Other than that she just do some crazy cardio dance exercises for fun and the burned calories are an added bonus.
She consider herself a bookworm and read both fiction and nonfiction novels. But she prefers fiction, especially the suspense/ thriller genre. She loves “Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in this genre. She also likes “The White Tiger” (the winner of 40th Man Booker Prize in 2008.), the debut novel by Indian author Aravind Adiga.
Nushrat had decided to not being cast in stereotypical roles and likes to explore different genres of movies. She personally can’t sit through any horror film but loves to act in one, if offered. She likes to work in a pure raw action flick like “kill-bill” and also stories which are based on small towns like that in Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Omkara” and Abhishek Chaubey’s “Dedh Ishqiya”.
Nushrat Bharucha shared that she has a keen interest to be a part of an Indian web series. In Hollywood some of her favourites are Prison break and Roswell (TV series).
She adores female celebs like “Kate moss” and singer “Elize” and follows likes of them when comes to style statement. She feels they have a similar body resemblance to her and she can always try anything fashionable they try. Out of Indian fashion designers “Manish Malhotra” is her favourite. She also likes “Jenifer Lawrence” acting and persona very much.
Nushrat also pinpointed that at many occasion’s she was rejected either by her “short” height or due to her urban sharp featured looks. So she was unable to get selected for roles that she wanted to do very much. She was one of the shortlisted female lead for the role of “Latika” in the Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire”. But she was not selected because of her looks. The role later was gone to “Freida Pinto”.
